NRP Course (Skills Check)

 

The Neonatal Resuscitation Program™ is an educational program that introduces the concepts and basic skills of neonatal resuscitation.

                              The new NRP course format now requires learners to:


1.    Study the Textbook of Neonatal Resuscitation, 6th Edition
2.    Take the online examination before attending an NRP course.
3.    Complete the NRP Course (skills check) which includes activities, demonstration, discussion, hands-on practice, skills evaluation and simulation and debriefing

A.    A comprehensive instructional textbook, which includes an interactive, multi-media DVD-ROM, forms the basic educational component of this program and is available for purchase from the AAP Online Bookstore. For detailed information on ordering NRP materials, please visit www.AAP.org/NRP

B.    The NRP Online Examination, 6th Edition examination

--Assesses knowledge of the causes, prevention, and management of mild to severe neonatal asphyxia. Completion of this activity does not imply that an individual has the competence to perform neonatal resuscitation.

NRP Testing Material

The NRP test covers the material in Lessons 1 through 9 of the Textbook of Neonatal Resuscitation, 6th Edition.  For many institutions you must pass ALL 9 Lessons.

***Be sure to take the lessons in order***

If you complete lesson 9 before lessons 5-8, the exam will pass you and you will no longer be able to take these lessons. The site to take the online exam is: http://www2.aap.org/nrp/default.html  and there will be a charge of $23.50.

C.    To obtain an NRP Provider Card:

--An individual must successfully complete the NRP Online Examination, 6th Edition and,

--Successfully participate in skills and simulation review and testing under the guidance of an NRP Instructor.

 PLEASE NOTE:

One week prior to your skills check-off you will receive a date/time reminder email for the online portion of the class with American Academy of Pediatrics and an appointment time to report for the skills check portion of this class.  Your appointment will be scheduled for a 45 minute increment within the scheduled 4 hour timeframe of this event, 8 – 12:30pm.

A printed CERTIFICATE OF COMPLETION is required to attend the skills check.  Everyone must print this certificate at the end of the online portion and bring it to the skills-check.
